Pre-Worlds Warm-Up parties
This year Worlds is partnering with nearby dance clubs Cotton Eyed Joe in Knoxville Tennessee and with the Electric Cowboy in Clarksville, Tennessee. These dance clubs will help us generate awareness and interest in Worlds 2016, but they’ll also host the preliminaries and finals of a special line dance competition. The top dancers will win cash and other prizes including a full week pass to Worlds 2016. Dancers will compete to the song “Me and Johnny Cash”. Winners will also be invited to perform the dance at Worlds in the Saturday night show at which time the song will be performed live by Cingle recording artist Rainey Qualley. The date to learn the dance in Clarksville is December 2nd. The dates for and Knoxville TBD. Click below to follow the progress, times and dates for the parties.
Saturday Night Show
Once again Worlds will present our Variety Show on Saturday night that will be one of the highlights of the week. This year, our very special guests will be lead singers JP Pennington, Les Taylor and Sonny LeMaire from the country music band Exile! Our guests will be performing 3 or 4 acoustic songs during our show. The group Exile has been recording for many, many years and has numerous #1 country hit songs. But wait, there’s more. We’ll also feature another great performer, Cingle recording artist Rainey Qualley, singing her hit “Me and Johnny Cash”. Rainey will be joined by a host of line dancers that will perform the popular line dance that accompanies this recording. Of course, we’ll have other special performances, our Hall of Fame induction ceremony and the annual Champions Showcase during the show…followed by an amazing Classic Masters competition. Don’t miss Saturday!
On Tuesday evening, we’ll hold the 5th annual World Country and Line DanceSport Federation Games (WCLDSF). Authorized by the International Olympic Committee, and subject to their rules and procedures, international teams, couples and line dancers will go for the gold!
Parade of Countries & States
On Wednesday evening we’ll have one of the most colorful and festive activities of the entire event. Join us in the Tennessee Ballroom for the annual parade of competitors. They’ll march in grouped by countries and by states (US). You’ll really appreciate the flavor of our international brotherhood during the parade. The spectacle is truly one of the highlights of the week.
On Sunday evening, the last day of Worlds, we will have a post-event party at the Nashville Palace for anyone staying over on Sunday night. There will not be any cover charge for Worlds customers that night (leave your wristbands on) and we intend to have one of our Worlds deejays working the sound system that night. The party starts at 8:00 pm and runs until midnight. The Nashville Palace is within walking distance of the Opryland Hotel, but we are attempting to have Opryland commit to provide transportation to the Palace.
